The Humane Society for Boone County got just what it was hoping for at its first-ever Fur Ball fund raiser last weekend. The fundraiser was held to raise money so the shelterless society could eventually build a home. And not only did it surpass its $20,000 fundraising goal at the event, the society also accepted a very special donation – 6.2 acres of land on which to build.
“There was a standing ovation, everybody was yelling, cheering, clapping; it was great,” Board President Mike Hancock said of the announcement of the donation at the Fur Ball. “Everybody’s pumped up about it and looking forward to the next big thing.”
Whitestown land development company Valenti-Held donated the land to the Humane Society.
